Self Healing and autumn
Nature is always self healing. Now that it is Autumn in the northern hemisphere, many trees are shedding their leaves, slowing its growth to decrease the work it has to do in Winter. Animals are preparing to hibernate to preserve their energy now that less food is available.
During our dark, ill phases we curl up foetal like, nurturing ourselves back to health, to balance.
Be inspired by nature. It balances and self heals effortlessly. In our everyday lives we hope to heal through upheaval, fear, dependence on others’ presricptions, advice, expertise. In nature, there is no pressure to achieve by a specific time. Time is the healer.
Children too follow natural paths. Observe little children taking their first steps. They fall down many times. They don’t give up. They might rest; they might revert to crawling for a short period, then back they come, putting one foot in front of the other. They walk because they practice all the time. And just look at their faces when they achieve an inch of progress: it radiates light, they shine with ear to ear smiles.
What do we tend to do? We fall, we rest, we try again. When we do not achieve our goal the first time, or even at the fifth attempt, we give up. The light bulb would never had been invented at the time had Edison given up after 100 attempts. He persisted over 1000 times. Now we take electric light for granted.
What would happen if we were to celebrate each and every attempt, knowing that at each and every attempt we have learnt something new, how not to do it, how to fine tune?
Anything worthwhile takes time. Every time we learn, we heal some part of us, we bring into balance some part of us, whether it is mind, body, spirit or a little bit of each.
